Why control moles?

Moles (Talpa Europaea) are common pests in Maidstone and throughout Kent.

Tunnelling at a rate of up to 25 metres each day, moles can cause considerable damage to the ground. Their shallow runs can collapse underfoot, causing twisted ankles and sprains to people and livestock. They bring stones and soil to the surface, damaging mowers and the appearance of lawns. They can also damage crop roots, and destroy silage by contaminating the crop with listeria brought up with the soil.

Moles feed on earthworms and buried grubs, working and feeding for around four hours, then sleeping for four hours.

Generally only having 1 litter of 2 to 7 young each year, moles live to around 3 years.

Moles are very territorial, the young will flee the nest and start digging their own territories, normally causing a rise in call outs between March and July as new areas are dug out.

Mole hills are also very unsightly on lawns, in gardens, wedding venues, hotels and sports grounds.

How do I know if I have moles in my lawn or property?

Moles will deposit their excavated spoil on the surface, making unmistakable mole hills. You may also notice shallow runs collapsing as you tread on them, and brown lines on your lawn in the Summer as the grass roots have been lifted from the soil below, causing the grass to dry out.

Please get in touch straight away if you think you have a mole on your property. Our friendly technicians will quickly start controlling your mole problem to reduce further damage.

How do you control moles in gardens and other outdoor spaces?

We are trained and experienced in the art of traditional mole catching, using specialist trapping techniques. Many of our clients have tried trapping moles themselves, or using so called mole repellers, only to call us in several weeks later when everything has failed and much more damage has been caused. These DIY attempts can make moles very weary and therefore harder (and costlier) to catch. It’s therefore important to call us professional mole catchers straight away and save yourself a lot of frustration!

Mole trapping for gardens:

Having moles in your garden can be very frustrating, as they destroy your prized lawn and flower beds. We’ll work to quickly eradicate them, with our mole trapping usually requiring just 2-3 visits to eradicate all moles in your garden at that time.

Mole catching for businesses:

Commercial premises where we control moles include golf courses, football pitches, hotels, wedding venues, farms, campsites and bowls clubs.
