Beetle treatments in Maidstone, Sittingbourne, Chatham, Gillingham and Rochester areas:

We provide fast, effective control of carpet beetles and other pest beetles throughout Maidstone and the surrounding areas.

Carpet beetle larvae are often found in birds nests and travel throughout the building, causing large amounts of damage to materials, textiles, carpets and furs.

Varied carpet beetle (Anthrenus verbasci):

The adult beetle wing cases are covered in tiny scales of various colours, giving these 3mm long beetles a mottles, variegated appearance. The adults feed on pollen from garden plants and are often found inside on window sills from March to September. These have eleven segments in their antennae with a three segmented club.

35-100 eggs are laid in the food material, these hatch and start feeding straight away. The larvae are very distinctive and covered in tufted hairs, giving rise to their common name of “Woolly bears”. They have three tufts of golden hairs towards the rear. The larvae can survive for many months without food and shy away from light, often living deep within the fabric they are feeding on.

Museum beetle: (Anthrenus museorum):

These are similar to the varied carpet beetle, but far less common. They can be identified by having eight distant segments with a two segmented club in their antennae. They are rare as pests but can cause significant damage to animal based materials.

Please call us if you suspect the presence of carpet beetles or their larvae, we can start treatment straight away to reduce the amount of damage they may cause.
These pests can also indicate a food source, such as an old bird’s nest in the loft. We will look for these during our initial survey, to help prevent future problems. Treating these pests can save thousands of pounds worth of damage being caused, so please get in touch as soon as you think you may have a textile beetle problem.

Other pest beetles include stored product beetles, grain weevils and ground beetles.
We have a vast range of treatments and experience in dealing with these insect pests, so please call to see how we can help you.
